we know and i'll play sound a little later of bill clinton in minnesota, but the reality in the minds of voters before sandy we were talking 3 to 5% of the undecided population out there. many others had actually put their stake in the ground and know who they are voting for. psychologically combine sandy, where does it stand? is it like christie said? >> i think to a lot of voters, especially in the states affected, virginia, maryland, pennsylvania, ohio, new hampshire shgz connecticut, in all these key states those voters aren't thinking about election day. they're worried about the impact this is having on their families and friends and communities and rightfully so. in terms when you look at it from 20,000 feet, i don't know what the good answer is. i think this freezes things in a lot of ways in terms of where we were in the election. i don't think it gives a candidate an advantage. what happens here is at some point election nearing and campaigning will begin again friday or saturday. voters will start to focus again. in terms of how it changes the race, i don't think it changes

>> it's no accident that bill clinton was in orlando. that's a key swing area right in the heart of that i-4 corridor. there was a cnn poll out today showing a 50/49 race between the two sides. pretty much a dead-even race. missing out on a day or two to get people out to the polls can really hurt both campaigns. mitt romney has to walk this fine line and so does the president not wanting to look too political in a situation like this when you could, as bill karins mentioned, see people out of power in the millions potentially for the next few days. >> let's bring chip in on this. you don't want to look too political, but one thing some have noted is governor romney made a couple of phone calms to virginia governor bob mcdonald and chris christie, two republican governors negating to call governors who are democrats overseeing tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people who could be impacted. was that a bad quote-unquote call no pun intended to make, chip? >> no, i don't think so. everybody is on the same page here. this st

after bill clinton was out of office, they tried their ideas. we tried giving big tax cuts to the wealthiest americans. we tried giving insurance companies and wall street a free rein to do whatever they play. what we got is falling incomes, record deficits, slowest job growth in 50 years and an economic crisis that we're still cleaning our way out of. so -- so we know what works and we know what doesn't. and governor romney now is a very talented salesman. so in this campaign, he is trying as hard as he can to repackage the same old ideas that didn't work and offer them up as change. he is saying he is the candidate of change, lo and behold. now here is the thing, though. we know what change looks like. and what governor romney is offering ain't it. giving more power to the biggest banks, that's not change. another $5 trillion tax cut to the wealthiest americans, that's not change. refusing to answer details about your policies until after the election, that's definitely not change. we've heard that from politicians before. >> again, a glimpse
